And what do you think women might be doing under the situation Geezer advocates here?

Not much different than they're doing now. I don't recall many female track athletes in the non-throwing events in London who looked like Tammy Thomas.
well, that line of thinking isn't consistent with reality; Why do you think those folks used such "massive doses of AAS"? And what do you think folks would choose today given a simple choice with no fear of DQ?
The answer is not micro-dosing on caffeine.
You first.
Sample drug protocol from Flo/East German era, a current sample drug protocol, and a speculative sample drug protocol athletes would chose today with no fear of DQ. Males and females.
I'm looking forward to reading what you come up with.

Well it's safe to say they'd be doing at least what the E. Germans and Soviets did, and likely then some more .. which means the side effects could reasonably be, at the least, on par with that era. Given that whatever Flo Jo was on, it pushed her faster than any woman has gotten close to since (regardless how sprintgeezer says otherwise) ... so we know they wouldn't be doing what they're doing now, would they?
A couple of quick things:
1) there is now unrestricted PED use in the NFL and other football programs, regardless of what you believe. People aren't generally dying everywhere. Many might be screwed, but that is their choice as adults. Yes, I know that NFL'ers only live to 52. So what. Ask them if they'd do it again.
2) Who cares if people drug themselves to death. So what. Big deal, hand out the Darwin awards.
3) There is no proven link between FloJo's death and Lance's cancer, and PED's.
4) I know about Lyle Alzado. So what. He made his bed.
etc.
You know what? Doritos, coke, and frozen pizza will kill you just as fast, if not faster, if you are stupid enough to use them to excess--and you will not enjoy the ride nearly as much.
So, you're a "legalize crack, heroine, all prescription drugs" kinda guy?
Some sound thinking there.
There are certain drugs that render people completely dissociative, which is an obvious danger to society, and such substances should IMO be unlawful to possess and use unless it is in a research setting with very strict controls.
The PED's we're talking about do not render a person dissociative--that is, they are still perceiving the world in a way that is consistent with generally-observed and agreed-upon "reality". They do not look at someone and see instead a deer, for instance, and shoot.
This type of thing DOES happen with certain psychotropic drugs--read the literature, or do some of them, and you will understand. Those should remain unlawful, and those PED's that are in that class should be unlawful. If somebody is tested race day and shows evidence of use of any of those compounds--if they show up on angel dust or cid, for instance--an instant ban from competition, all prior results voided, and criminally prosecuted as appropriate in whatever jurisdiction applies.
But AFAIK there aren't any in that class. If you know of any, I'd love to hear about it.
So your attempt to paint a particular picture fails.
We should declare PED open season, and acknowledge the reality. As for the poster upthread who maintains his argument about unethical or even illegal activities by doctors, it appears that his understanding of these concepts is a bit simplistic--and in any case, legal requirements (including what compounds are legal) and canons of ethics change with jurisdiction, and there is essentially nothing stopping an athlete from seeking, finding, and procuring medical services in other jurisdictions, be it Muller-Wohlfahrt in Germany, or Astaphan in St. Kitts, or Galea in Toronto.
The naivete on this board is really incredible. Doesn't anybody with any experience read this board?
