6 x 800m @ 3km pace w/ 90 sec jog rest
goal was 2:30
couldn't hit the times, was slow, average around 2:40
obvious answer goal pace too fast but was workout too difficult to run at 3km pace

6x800 is a great 3k workout, but the rest can be standing 90-120 seconds. So you could've jogged 2:30 in between to be more accurate
actual rest was 200m jog which was in 80-95 sec, workout didn't appear to difficult on paper but I really struggled, yes probably should have used longer rests
Standard 3K pace workout is 5-6X1000 with 2:00-2:15.
For 6X800, your rest would be more like 1:35-1:45, which is about what Bob Kennedy used, as I recall.

6 x 800 with 400 jog is probably more what you should do.

Kennedy would do the 800's in 2:00-2:05 I would guess, so his work to rest ratio 1:0.75, using that ratio my rest should have been 2 min, not sure if that would have made much difference for me with this workout, I think for me to have hit 2:30 for the 800's would have needed 3 min rest and not sure if that workout has any real purpose, all in all workout was flawed and I should have not attempted it, learning experience
Its sounds more like a 5k workout to be honest. Try 8 by 600 with 200 jog. 5/6 by a k off 2 minutes is a 5k workout not a 3k one. Imagine try doing 10 by a k at 5k pace!
