i cant think of anyone else who excells so much at short AND long distance like webb does. i mean, even the great 800 guys that can run 143 like webb did, they cant get anywhere near webbs 27:34. and then when we look at webbs 27:34 along with others who can run in the 27's or sub 27, none of them can get anywhere near webbs 143 for 800. the depth and range of webbs speed and endurance is greater than anyone else in history and absolutely blows my mind and is mentally astounding to me.
Webb as the US HS and open mile record holder is an alltime great. His range is unbelieveable. Sadly he doesn't get the recognition he deserves as one of the best US runners ever. On the world and alltime scale he still rates as one of the best.
this is true. 10k greats like bekele and geb couldnt go under 145 if their life depended on it. And 800 greats like rudisha or thorpe couldnt break 30:00 for 10k if their life depended on it.

This just shows what an incredible athlete Alan Webb is. His times from 400m through to 10000m are comparable to those of Aouita who is regarded as one the most complete middle-to-long distance runner in history. Are there any other athletes apart from these two who have shown this sort of range?

wrong. webbs 400, 800, 3k, and 2 mile are all significantly faster than ouitas.
not only are you wrong, but you are absolutely wrong.
Since when is .02 seconds "significantly faster"? On top of that, Webb's 3k is almost 10 seconds slower. Aouita is clearly the better runner.

Seriously, I was going to say this.
Sure Webb's better in the 800 and only 2 secs better in the 1500. But look at how much time Geb puts on him once you reach the longer distances. Also I'm pretty sure Geb ran like 7:26 or something in the 3k.
Oh and one more thing. Remember that Geb ACTUALLY WON WORLD CLASS RACES.

Aouita has an Olympic Bronze medal at 800m, had a world record at 1500m, a world record at 3000m, a world record at 5000m and was once ranked #1 in the world at 10,000m.
Webb's 800 is actually further ahead of Geb's 800 than Geb's 10000 is ahead of Webb's 10000.
5.4% faster 800 vs. 4.5% faster 10000. Granted, that 800 was indoors, so that throws things off.
