Ritz was the most tested T&F athlete of 2012

It's a combination of success and targeted testing.

You can generally get a good idea of who USADA thinks is possibly doping by how much they are tested. Would be interesting to see the whole year results.

But

Ritz and Rupp and somewhat Goucher- tested because of Salazar connection.

Manzano because of John Cook connection.

Abdi because of Martin Fagan connection.

Lagat because of past EPO false positive.

ORRRRRRRRRR its just because those are pretty much our best athletes anyway....

Actually, for most of them you can probably explain the number of test because the more you race and the more top finishes you have, the more in-competition testing you get.

Someone with time on his hands might want to compare the number of races people ran over that time with the number of times they were tested.

Yes, yes I do. She may be using drugs which there is currently no test for.

Of course she can. All professional sports are corrupt to the core, and they find ways for athletes to get away with doping.

There's money in great performances and no money in average ones. Dope has been around for so long that sports would bomb without them.

Is there anyone who, knowing Ritz's talent, doubts that he ran 2:07 clean? And if so, why would he risk being associated with a program that he thought might be suspect? Haters gonna hate, but at least two of the greatest High School runners ever are fulfilling their potential, and doing it clean (albeit with every legal advantage in terms of modalities).

All sub-13 5k runners are suspect. 13 minutes was barely scratched by the end of the blood-bag era, and was never approached again until the epo era.

2:07, too, was barely dented by 1988, and was never seen again until the era of epo-fueled marathoners began in 1998.

I doubt that anyone runs 2:07 clean. Ever.

Anyways, I was a little surprised not to see Gatlin (combination of success and past history), but I see he had 10 tests, so he just missed the list.

Clayton ran 2:08 in 1969 (pre "blood bag era"), off of ridiculously self abusive training which curtailed his career, and with a body (large, no speed) that is far from Ritz in optimality. To say that someone like Ritz in an optimal environment/race can't pull 2:07 is way too far fetched, but I suppose it goes with the territory of "everyone since 1970 was cheating". Hell, people come on here everyday and accuse Shorter of being a doper lol. I'll put you down as thinking that Ritz is on drugs, which is what I was looking for, insight as to the mindset of an accuser. For the "blanket doping" crowd, no one is above suspicion.

why should anyone be above suspicion? The sport is riddled with dopers, it's moronic to deny it.

The 60's weren't clean either, but who needs dope when the course isn't legit? There were no 2:08's in the 60's.

There may have been one or two clean 2:07 runners in history, but there is no way to prove it, and given the progression of times during the various dope eras, I doubt there are any at all.

If you want me to believe they're clean, prove it. Keeping in mind that passing tests proves nothing.

I thought this was odd too. 1500 and up, it seems. Didn't think anybody gave a ****about distance runners, but I guess I was wrong.

If anyone in our sport is clean, I believe Ryan Hall. So I don't agree.

Ritz is the last person on earth anyone would suspect of being dirty. He has been an international standout since high school (third at world cross). He sure as hell should not be the most tested athlete in the US.
