What is the strangest and/or stupidest thing you've ever done on a run with your team?

Once there were about 10 of us on a long run and we decided to sprint the last 200 meters or so. True story.

How do you run through trees? That's actually stranger, and probably stupider, than that bike story.

I was on a long run with 2 of my friends. One of them had to take a dump really bad. He pooped on someone's front lawn. When we ran by that house again it was gone. Spooky stuff.

We chased a bunch of deer around a graveyard until one of them ran into a fence and died in front of us. Then we ran through a dark abandoned railroad tunnel that some bums were living in, some guy on the team started yelling "welcome to the boneyard", and we climbed a barbed wire fence to get out. Finally we came back to the Penn Relays and I ate a Jamaican meat patty. It was alright.

We were running on a hill above a busy county road. It was the friday before spring break, so we were kind of screwing around-and decided to bomb cars with snowballs. We threw a barrage at this fancy camaro t-top (beautiful spring day-t-top wide open) and moments later the two angry 25 year old miners just coming off shift stopped the car and came up the hill to kick our asses. We hid in a barn-but alas-the miners found our tracks in the snow.

Unpleasant afternoon-though 8 skinny high school runners are a pretty close match for two hefty, but tired, blue collar workers. Close match, but still unpleasant.

Little dog ran out in the street at our pack of 7 or 8 and a teammate punted it back in the yard.

Seven mile loop out in the country we were half way done when we got to a corner and turned right. A couple of teammates take a shortcut behind the house on the corner not seeing the horse in the corral. The rest of us stayed on the road. They spooked the horse, it took off, ran into the fence and was laying on the ground when we took off sprinting. Didn't find out if it was hurt or not.

I still run that loop 30 years later but it's been years since any horses have been there and the corral is long gone.

Wow, OP, what a puss you are! It's great that you're sorry, but if you were a man at all, you would've summoned your tiny testes and delivered that bike back to its rightful owner.

30 years ago our whole team went on a bushwacking run. As usual, the varsity slowly pulled away from the JV team. Eventually, the varsity came out of the woods at a field rather than the road where we thought we would. To cross the field we had to climb a fence but we didn't think anything of it. About half way across the field we noticed some cows in the field. About 3/4 of the way across the bull with the cows noticed us. It didn't really charge us but it was moving fast enough so we had to pick it up and scatter to get out of the field. Of course the JV team was watching all this happen.

Dumb thing number 1: The JV team still ran across the field diagonally away from where we had crossed while we tried to keep the bull interested in us.

Dumb thing number 2: I heard later that they did it again the next year.

Now I grew up running past several fields with a few cow in them. Occasionally the bull would show some interest and I would cross to the other side of the road. Now I know they are huge and they sometimes go after people who try to ride them in rodeos, but does anyone really know how aggressive they are running down people who haven't bothered them in the first place?

Junior year of high school our winter track team was supposed to keep our runs on campus. Of course we never did, and a local park nearby became our stomping grounds on any runs over 20 minutes. One winter, it was exceptionally cold and a large swamp area within the park froze over to about 3 inches thick. Two of my buddies and I forayed onto the ice just to play around for a few days in a row, seeing how far we could slide, playing stupid made up games, and definitely not running.

One day, the brilliant group of us decided to invite some other lads and ladies and we played a 4 v 4 hockey game with sticks and a rock on the swamp ice in our trainers. It was a blast, and our team was leading 5-3 in a game to 7 until suddenly we heard the noise none of us wanted to hear: the dreaded crack! The ice started to buckle as we all shuffled towards the road, but alas 3 of us were still on the ice when it broke. Unbeknownst to us at the time, this swamp was truly a drainage area for local developments, and the immediate stench of poop on our lower bodies (water was 2 feet deep) let us know we were screwed.

Coaches caught us on the way back, the three of us were monitored on our runs for two weeks and not allowed out of sight (so lame while everyone else played football and fought in the snow), our cars smelled like crap for even longer, and we never got to finish that damn hockey game.

Miss those days.

I was dating an XC All American in college. She would run with the guys periodically on easy days because she could keep up with us and she liked to be with me. One summer we were running with a pack and one of my teammates made a comment about how we should stop and have sex in a filed. We liked the idea and did just what he recommended.

Long time ago. If you're reading this post, sorry for spilling the beans, hahaha.

One time we made Kool-Aid in the hotel bathtub at the Penn Relays. A couple guys took a bath in it together.

on weekends when we were on our own and had low mileage we'd run to the tanning saloon, tan, then come back. i feel stupid as i even type this.

Once in college it was raining all day and we had a down poor during our run.

A stream formed going down a steep hill by our field house.

We just dove down it over and over using it as a water slide.

We walked into the field house soaking wet and covered in mud.

Our coach shook his head.

It was great!

It's okay... ;)

Doing an easy seven with a friend. We ran down a trail 3.5 miles and turned around. Right when we turned around, it started to storm. Thunder and lighting at first, not to big of deal, then hail. Big hail, it left welts, then a tornado about a quarter mile away, there was no shelter around. I suggested to my friend we just lay on the ground in a small ditch. He said no, lets keep running. We ran for maybe a mile not knowing if we were going to live, getting hit by debris and hail. The storm passed and we we're all right other than the welts from the hail.
