It's not physically possible for a man to break 4 minutes in the mile.
Yep, the 4minute barrier will be broken by a woman within two to three decades. Whether she will be on drugs or not I have no idea. But if the history of track has taught us anything it is that seemingly impossible barriers will be broken eventually. Now, that is not to say that women will be running 3 minute miles, but 4 is hardly out of the question.
Regina was on her way before she got busted
I believe it WILL be broken by a woman someday, but one thing people are missing is that there are fewer and fewer opportunities for men OR women to run the Mile at the elite level. It's hardly run at all on the international level compared to the early 80's.
I have already said that my 8 month old daughter will break 4 minutes for the mile in about 25 years from now.
I'm just gonna gear her towards running a 50 s 400 in high school and keep a modest aerobic base until she is 18 and build her strength from there. No drugs.
Not everything is physically possible, at some point human talent/limits run out. Will a woman break 4? My guess is not in my lifetime or my grandkids, and I don't even have a kid yet. Law of diminishing returns kicks in, men and women got a lot faster in a relatively short period of time, but nobody is going out and breaking the 1500m record by 2 secs anymore.
I don't think so. Most sub 4 minute milers can run way under 1:50 flat for 800 meters, and no clean woman (Jarmila whatever her name is, who ran 1:53, was definately juiced to the gills - she looked like she can body slam most of the guys in the NFL who are not linemen) has come anywhere near that level.
I have all the respect in the world for serious women runners of all abilities, but I just don't think they have the physical tools to run that far that fast without drugs.
bowman will conquer 4
It really doesn't look very likely. The WR is 4:12 and change, but no one can pretend that there are women today in that league...we're seeing more like 4:16 talents (at best) out there now. It's a l-o-o-o-o-n-g way from 4:16 to 3:59...
Yes, eventually, but they will run equiv time in 1500, 3:41
No.
I don't think so, that would be like a man running 3:30, but you never know
Yeah, by the end of this cemtury it'll be done, so you might have 96 years to wait. But it'll get done.
yes they will some day maybe not today but it will be broken just like the 3:30 for men it will be done sooner then you think
Absolutely you antiquated morons. You all sound like the Drs. and the Pyschonaliticalists of the anti-diluvian age!
Of course Woman will break 4 minutes for the mile...its just matter of Time! And it will happen a lot quicker then you bunch of menumilists are courageous enough to acknowledge ya bunch of meninist dawgs! 4 minutes for the mile will be broken by Woman before the end of this decade!
Put your money up here!
Right now no woman in the world can get near even 350, let alone 341/342 to be able to break 4. What are you guys smoking? Must be some goooooooooooooood shiiaaaaaaaat.
NEVER, not even on drugs. Unless genetic engineering takes off and is all its made out to be.
The women's world record is 4:12, what was the last year the men's record was around that? The 20's? Glenn Cunningham ran 4:06. I think it will be done, but it is quite a ways off. Unfortunately, drugs will probably be involved.
