I've been running for about 3.5 years and want to do a half marathon mid-February. I'm 53.
I ran a 16-mile race in October with the equivalent HM time of about 2:10.
I've been training pretty hard, following the Hanson's HM plan, and today I ran a 5km park run in 23:53. I've been doing about 35 miles per week which will increase to 45 in the next phase.
Obviously, the 5k time puts me in a new bracket as far as goal HM goal time is concerned (MacMillan puts it at 1:50:35)
My question is: what should be my new HM goal be and what should my training pace be?
(You might say I lack endurance but I think when I ran the 16 mile race I was just not in the mindset of running that far at a "fast" pace.)
Should I just split the difference between the two race results and shoot for 2 hours and train using that pace as well?
Thanks all in advance.
