Grad student here. For the first time ever, I worked on my homework at the bar around lunchtime, while it was pretty empty. Got drunk very gradually as I only ordered 5 pints in the span of about 2 hrs. Very enjoyable experience. I've seen other people reading books at the bar, so I suppose it isn't weird to do homework there???? Thoughts?

Not wierd at all. I studied for a cfa exam, that I passed, at a bar regularly.
I studied at a bar a lot in college. I can't focus in super quiet environments so the noise and chaos was good for me. Didn't graduate with honors, but that wouldn't matter in my field anyway.
I was a bartender for a good bit of my time at Georgia Tech and did a lot of homework at the bar on break, between shifts, etc. Now I'm all grown up and back in college again. There's a bar near me that I pop into from time to time and sometimes I'll break out some homework. Bar rooms aren't near as distracting as the were twenty years ago. Nowadays everybody is playing with their iphones instead of talking to each other...good if you're just trying to study.

Man that's just so sad. I spent a good amount of time in bars 15 years ago and it was fun meeting people. Going to a bar to check Facebook sounds like the worst thing ever.

I know. Even the bartenders themselves are facebooking. As a former bartender this is just hard for me to watch.
