Trade 30% of your salary (for the rest of your working years) to have a carbon footprint of zero (until death). Would you do it? Of course, you must assume that it's possible to have zero carbon footprint.

I would do it if I was also promised that gay marriage would be allowed and people who cheated on their spouses would be found and killed. Abortion would be outlawed and anyone attempting an abortion illegally would be drawn and quartered in the town square.
If I could get this, I would take a 75% cut in my salary, today.
A zero carbon footprint benefits me how?

Sure, but my retirement seeds have already been planted, so a 30% drop in my salary the last 13 years (maybe less) for me is not a big deal. I'll admit that I would likely NOT answer that way if I were 25 without the retirement savings I have now. Not that I don't think reducing one's carbon footprint isn't a good thing, but it's not the only thing in life.
Of course not.
Homeless people make that trade all the time.
Your carbon footprint is only zero if you are dead. So are you asking if I want to be killed and have my pay cut?
I don't care about my carbon footprint. I care about the collective carbon footprint of the other 7 billion inhabitants of our planet. So, the answer is no.
I addressed this in my original post.
please stop trolling, mr. obama. there's other crap for you to be doing in the white house besides posting on letsrun.
+1
If I could get a 0.1% ownership share of Al Gore's carbon scam, I'd consider it.
What are you talking about? The entire carbon credit/carbon trading system was developed so we can save the Earth; it is completely altrustic. It has nothing to do with making people rich. Nothing!
Sure. I can live off of 200k.
Wazzup!? I'm rich, biotch!
Hell no!
Nope. But I'd double my carbon footprint for a 1% increase in salary.
Ha. And that's why Gore, Goldman Sachs, and many other high profile Democrats have themselves deeply entrenched...

And yet, the proponents are doing just that: making a killing on the fears of the sheep.
