What year are you? How are you grades?
The 5k would probably be decent enough to walk onto a mid tier dI squad. However, you could also run for a very good dIII school. Unless you plan on going to an Adams State or other such dII school, I strongly recommend dIII.
If these are junior year track times and a senior year xc time, then it seems likely that some DI schools might show some interest.
I am a senior now. I was hurt during track and you can see my times are slow. My goals this track season is 415 and 910
Goals are meaningless to college coaches. You probably should have some interest from mid-tier d1 and down. It's more important to pick the right school for you in terms of academics, major, location, money, before you put too much stock in running.
I walked onto a small D1 with 2:07/ 4:52/ 10:30/ 17:05/ 11:10steeple PRs and walked away as a 4:14/ 8:27/ 15:10/ 25:15/ 9:15steeple guy with a couple conference championships, all-new england in XC and track, and made ic4As 3 times.
There is no such thing as a 'd1' 'd2' 'd3' guy. Find the school that fits you.
I had a guy with similar prs to the op walk onto a very good D1 school. Look at a school's roster and contact the coach (if possible) to find out if you can walk on. My former athlete is still one of the weakest runners on the team and doesn't travel much but is getting good and might contribute by the time he is a junior.
This is getting to be one of the easiest question to answer on here.
Contact the coach and repeatedly at any level and ask. They will tell you, come on down , no chance and what times and why generally, or the asst. will.
Pesristence will pay off, and you should find a good spot.
Money, no object, good grades ? D III Contact Tom Donnelly at Haverford. maybe no one better in the U.S. at any level of coaching . You would get all you could out of yourself, just as an example ask Karl Paranya.
DI's too many too mention and there are some really good guys out there that will get back to you.
I know a kid from my son's school who had PRs of 17:10 5K (cross country), 4:47 1,600m and 10:15 3,200m in high school, but within 2 years of walking on at a school that finished top ten at NCAAs cross this year, had a 10k pr of 30:40 on the track and was scoring points at conference.
