tl;dr skip to SO
Okay, so just musing over things and considering the incredibly strenuous and often too-thinly spread training heptaletes and decathletes to, I've come up with a new idea for a multi-events contest, based on a kind of 'Individual Medley' of events - so the performance quality would be higher but nevertheless showcase ability in all of the fundamentals of track and field. Plus it would be more accessible non-multi-event athletes as requiring four events would be less of aa strenuous training load.
Obviously don't except tis to be taken seriously, but just want to see what LRC thinks of this track and field quadrathlon.
SO my plan consists of, for men and women, 4 events. I tried to pick them so that more natural explosive/endurannce athletes would have something to fit them in each category. Pick one event from each:
1. Sprints/Hurdles (200m, 100/110mH OR 60m, 400mH)
2. Throws (Shot, Javelin, not sure whether to include the discus or hammer)
3. Jumps (Long Jump, High jump, possibly triple for vault but not sure which of the 2 to include)
4. Endurance (800m OR 1500m, 3000 chase, or a 4-6km xc)
So what do you think, what would you change? Trying to keep it to 3 possible event choices per category. Also to make it more competitive, the winner in the 2 events in each category with most competitors would get bonus points.
