Ireland, hands down!
Czech
Bermuda just a short hop from the NE, they speak a language similiar to American, US dollars are part of the normal currency, rarely nutso hot-ehh a tad humid I'll admit, beautiful settings, wonderful friendly population, muli-cultural travlers and I'm told you can play golf there.
Canada, specifically the Canadian Rockies.
Bolivia. Poor infrastructure, but super cheap, and such amazing things to do. From piranha fishing in the jungle one day to ice-climbing over 6000m the next day (perhaps the other way around to avoid altitude sickness). And lots of other stuff. Great, underrated country.
+1 to Bolivia. Absolutely loved it.
If you don't mind roughing it a bit, there is so much to see and do, and for cheap. The landscapes in and around the Salar de Uyuni in southwest Bolivia were absolutely mindblowing.
Also would recommend Iceland, though it's definitely not as cheap.
TEXAS
US
Mexico. I love the culture, the food, the beaches, the people, the history. I went there for the first time in 2010 and have gone back every summer. Seriously thinking about buying a place there and retire. Can't get enough of that country.
I'll put in a second for Texas. You'll never find a more unusual country. They have succeeded in secession haven't they? If not, I hope Obama will approve their petition quickly.
It has to be New Zealand. It has it all, semi-tropical beaches, rugged mountains, cosmopolitan cities, the capital of ultra sports, peaceful, green and welcoming.
Australia.
Florida
No passport needed.

Me too. Drugs and diarrhia are the two most well known cultural traits. If you buy a place down there, you can have a steady diet of both.

I have three favorites and two of those are extremely budget friendly once you're there.
First and foremost: Guatemala. Spent 3 months there straight out of college. Dropped 2600 USD for the entire trip, including flights, a month of Spanish lessons, a scuba certification, climbing up an active volcano, and exploring Mayan ruins.
Second: Nepal. Only spent a week there and it wasn't anywhere near enough. Got to explore around Kathmandu for a few days before heading south and spending a few days in the jungle. Yes, the jungle! Spent 70 USD for two nights in a jungle camp where I took a 3.5 hour elephant ride (pretty painful) and spotted 3 wild Asian rhinos. Simply amazing. Probably spent less than 300 USD for the entire week (not including flights).
Third: Namibia. Namibia is a downright amazing country. It has my favorite African game park, Etosha. Etosha is awesome because of the watering holes there that you can visit and observe while at camp. I went to Ngorongoro and the Serengetti and the Masai Mara and a few others and they are all great, but Etosha was by far my most spectacular experience.
In addition, down the coast there's this German city called Swakopmund which is an adrenaline junkies delight. I went quad-biking in the desert which was just nuts. Also went skydiving.
They also have the second biggest canyon in the world: Fish River Canyon, which is pretty spectacular. And getting out into the Namib desert and climbing a dune at sunset is totally amazing.
I'd go back to any three of those in second and they are by far my most favorite three out of the almost 50 countries I've been to in the last six years.
My family has a tradition of winter vacations in Vallarta, Mexico and summers in British Columbia, Canada. We have family in BC.
France!!!!!
Amazing! You and I had the same experiences. In fact National Geographic Traveller described all three countries nearly identically to your descriptions (that's where I got my experience too). Hmmm, 50 countries? Have a problem with a"bragging bucket list"? I have friends who have gone to nearly 200 countries and they don't go to message boards to "casually mention" it. It's called "lack of self-esteem".
we have a time share condo in Cabo San Lucas, Baja, Mexico. We go there once a year usually in February when the whether is at its worst her in Wisconsin. Aside from what people say, Mexico has been very good to us in terms of vacations.
Costa Rica is cool too. Been there 3 times.
