I'm too stressed to run. My University brings in puppies for us to play with/pet during Finals Week! It's the only way we can destress.
For me, it always depended on whether my finals were exams or projects/papers. I don't think that I could spend more than 8 hours per day studying for tests if I wanted to (and I never really felt the need to do so anyway), so I never felt any time crunch if I was just taking a few final exams. Finishing up a major project and a 20 page term paper could pretty easily take all of my time and energy, though.
At my school (probably at lots of others too) the timing works nicely because I'm just coming back after taking a break following the end of xc season. At this point, I am just starting to build my milage up again, so its not like I am doubling or running any huge time consuming workouts or anything like that. I do miss a day of running here or there if there's a huge paper due, but mostly I keep up with the running just as much as a stress reliever as for training. I do wait until after finals to bump up my milage and get into serious training though.
