Hi. I am a relative running newb. At 41 yrs old, I've only been running for a year - i started on my 40th birthday, but have not missed a single day. I am up to 5 miles/day @ 7min/mile pace. A few months ago, I started getting bigtime knee pain at mile 3,4 on the road, but not the tread mill. This has set back my times and progress bigtime :( I was on a roll...
I've used Kinvara progrid 2s thinking they are fairly cheap and i dont need whizbang gear. However, this AM, i went into a local store (called Zombierunner, love the name) and had my stride looked at. She said i did not pronate, but am probably pounding on my heal too hard and sold me on a pare of ~$175 Newtons Gravity shoes.
Tonight i ran in them and crushed my PB by 30 seconds and have zero pain in my knee - it's been 4 months since I was even close to this time due to the knee pain. So, i ask this forum, should i thank the Newton's or is it a placebo effect?
