use "less than" instead of that annoying < symbol or else <
Only chicks wear tights. Only chicks should be allowed to wear tights. Men wear track pants when out in the cold.
If you're a man, either don the track pants or go full frontal femur.

Wrong, you wear track pants to warm up. Only people ever seen running in them for long periods of time are soccer players. I guess it could also be reasonable if you log about a mile per run.
Wear spandex. Unless you are insecure like the guy above. No brainer when it's raining out too.
I don't know the answer to this one but I live in Flagstaff and frequently get smoked by Kenyans in tights running the trails here. Well, it's hard to tell since they go by in a blur.
P.S. The NAU men typically wear shorts and no shirt regardless of the weather, sometimes with a retro-style headband.
You know me, I'm rockin' split sides year 'round.

Men can wear tights as long as they wear running shorts over them.
It's just my opinion, but as a guy I think it looks funny when other guys where shorts atop their tights...it looks like they're embarrassed. Don't all the pros wear just tights?
I guess the original post didn't go through as I expected...
What I had originally posted was a question of whether the cold weather (under 40 F), tightened the muscles. I was wondering this because I currently have some tight tendons on the upper right side of my right calf. My friend told me this was because I'd been running in shorts as opposed to tights and this contributed to this tightness.
So that was my question
Shorts; so my genitalia is more exposed, giving me a better chance at spreading my manhood throughout the world
INTELLECTUAL LEVEL OF RUNNING DEBATES
Low: Discussing aerobic and anaerobic training.
Medium: Discussing V02 max effect on running.
High: Running tights with or without shorts?
The cold weather can make it easier to get an injury because the muscles don't get warmed up as much. I would suggest doing one of the following
shorts over tights
tights over shorts
sweatpants over shorts
shorts over sweatpants
sweatpants over tights
sweatpants over shorts over tights
sweatpants over tights over shorts
NEVER tights over sweatpants
tights.
Depending on the type of weather, not just temperature.
20F or lower - pants/tights
35F or lower with rain or wind - pants/tights
My problem if I keep shorts on during those times is that my leg muscles (hams, quads) at tight the entire time and never really loosen up. If I try to do any strides or faster running, there is noticeable tugging and worry about injuring myself.
I've grown up running in the NE and the cold/wintery weather associated with it.
What we've got here is a failure to communicate. We need to differentiate between tights and spandex. Running tights, such as these: http://www.roadrunnersports.com/rrs/products/RRM2016/ are designed to be worn as an outer layer with nothing over them. Spandex, on the other hand, like this: http://www.eastbay.com/product/model:140816/sku:6846302/eastbay-evapor-tights-mens/navy/black/?cm=GLOBAL%20SEARCH%3A%20KEYWORD%20SEARCH, which are nothing more than a thin layer of spandex fabric, and don't have nearly the thermal properties of aforementioned tights, can be worn as is, or with running shorts over them. It must be known that these must never be worn over running shorts, as the shorts with cause lumps and bumps in unsightly areas and cause concern among innocent bystanders.
The fierce yellow and gold ones are especially nice.

oh crap I've been doing it all wrong!
I think the more important question is whether anyone runs with a towel wrapped around their neck.
