Webb's training must be rubbing off on Andrews.

It wasn't a mile or 800 and it was a turkey trot. If you base anything on thanksgiving races you are a fool. Remember when Webb beat Rupp a few years ago?

You think Steve Scott would've lost a Turkey Trot to a guy in a t-shirt?
That is an absolutely horrendous time for someone of Andrews caliber. Shameful and probably hung over from the night before.
I would put money on that being Andrew's 5k PR. Pretty decent lungs for a guy who's all leg speed.
Of course, I find it important to look out for fellow NJ alums, especially Shore Conference kids.

It was a 3 mile race
Eh, that's a little worse but even still. He was getting grief last summer for how inexperienced he was at 1500m, let alone 3 times that distance.

Andrews ran something like 25:30 for 8K (a MUCH worse time than this) at Paul Short (not a slow course) in the fall of 2011. In the spring of 2012, he ran 3:34 for the 1500.
There's no reason at all to worry about this. Andrews is an 800/1500 guy; there's no reason for him to be super good at the 5K, especially since he's given plenty of evidence that he's not all that good at overdistance racing.
Ice is totally correct. When I read the title of the thread, I thought Andrews ran something like 14:45. When I read he ran low 14's I was EXTREMELY surprised. 14:10 on the roads for an 800/1500 guy is promising!
Geez my wife could have taken 2nd or 3rd with those ladies times.

Why should anyone give two sh*ts about what Steve Scott would have or wouldn't have done in a Turkey Trot?
I can't believe people are giving an 800 guy sh*t for running 14:10 in a 3 mile race in November.
Bio on the guy who won. Not a world beater, but fast enough to keep an 800/1500 specialist honest on a holiday.

Stop hating on Andrews he's 800 times the runner you'll ever be

If you told me a 3:34 1500 guy - with a killer kick - got dropped in the last 1k of a local Turkey Trot that went out slow, then I'd be wondering what the hell he was doing.
Of course, if the guy had thrown down a :52 kick to win the thing, there would be a thread on here saying that Andrews is a douche bag for taking some local turkey trot too seriously. Do you seriously think that a professional athlete should be super-competitive when running against a bunch of local joggers? If an MLB pitcher jumps in a pickup game with a bunch of little leaguers, do you expect the guy to bust out his 95mph fastball and throw a no hitter? The guy does this for a living. He has nothing to prove, here.
Considering that he's never run anything impressive longer than 1500m (check his mile PR), I don't know why you expect him to outkick a 14:10 runner in a 3 mile. This is the same guy who ran a 25:30 8k the same year he won the 800 at NCAAs.

He's racing a Turkey Trot, not the Olympics. I know everyone on here treats them as their Olympics but for Andrews it's just a fun 3 miler.
Why a backwards hat for Andrews?
Just a turkey trot jog for Andrews.... Chill out
