What are your pr's?
Here's a good place to start. I imagine Hartman's phone number will work for you. Or you could call Coach Henry. He'd be able to get you in touch.
I live in Colorado (altitude), and my prs are 16:20 5k which i don't know what is in TX, 9:59 or something around 9:45 in Texas, 4:34 which is somewhere around 4:30, and 1:59.
i forgot to mention my 10k is 35:56 at really high altitude (in the mountains) and half marathon in 83 minutes
Are you a girl? Your pr's don't even stack up to Melissa Gulli's. What guy on "money" do your pr's beat??
I said when they were seniors and are now on money. I don't want the money though, my tuition is already paid for. I just want to run. I don't really have all that much real training and with the college training, I know i can really explode.
Explode is the key word. But, you may be the wrong kind of explosion.
Ummmmmmm, your time suck, Tommy Bonn ran a 4:08 mile budy, and 30 other A&M runners put up times that would make yours look like D3 trash. Don't bother comming to Texas, we dont want leftover from Colorado
Well first of all I never claimed to be Tomm Bonnor anything near his caliber. I told everyone what my prs where and I am not ashamed of them. They are not D3 trash and I will give examples:
Cody Manual- on their roster from last year, he only ran 9:51 as a senior as well as 2 flat.
Jacob Schafer- on roster from last year, as a freshman in COLLEGE had indoor bests of 2:07.25 in the 800 and 4:43.21 in the mile.
Just some examples. I am not saying I am the man or anything, but I think I stnd a fair chance.
Don't expect the walk-on standard to remain the same. I would imagine that Coach Waters will not allow a time like 9:51 to be on the team. You may want to get fit before attempting to walk-on. No offense intended but it isn't the Texas A&M jogging club.
One more thing - please don't come back and say that Hartman would have... because it doesn't matter. Hartman isn't there and Waters will do a good job. Enough said! Wait and see and please don't be so quick to judge.
TAMU2008,
What Lookout is trying to say, is that being from Colorado, you are obviously not a Kenyan. That and the fact that you obviously didn't qualify for FL nationals, means that Waters would have to actually coach you if you walked on. That would not be allowed because coaching distance runners would take away valueable time that the staff could spend on recruiting more foreigners.
Seriously though, anything could happen with a runner of your creditials. I've seen a lot done with less than that. Train hard and go for it, regardless of what anyone else says.
Dont listen to them TAMU, they are trying to give you some kind of false hope. Your times are garbage and so are all those other loosers you named. If someone cant break 2:00 in the 800m, then they shouldn't even be in college track. They should go jog with the rest of the pussy's who take entire summers off and think college running is a social club. I hate it when I tell people I run track at a university and they ask me if some no name suck ass that Iv'e never heard of is on the team.
So my point to you is to stay in colorado and take up snowbording or fishing
Well, since he's from Colorado and didn't make FL, wouldn't that put him in the same category (albeit with slower PRs) as Ian Burrell? He ended up on the US JR XC team, as I remember.
Your names change, but your anti-Dan Waters agenda hasn't. Come out of the shadows, you troll. I'm guessing you really don't know much at all.
Breaking 2 in the 800 is what, like a prerequisite or something. Eat a dick. I was born in Texas and don't need to hear any of your shit. I am in a military family and have lived here one year. Where do you run?
I never had any contact with Hartman so I will not judge him. I am in the process of a high mileage (at least for me)and am getting in some of the best solo shape of my life. For his first year though, would Waters have to accept the recruits that Hartman recruited?
Kid,
Good luck at TAMU. My advice is to stop asking for advice on this message board, and to contact the track office. Unless someone from the coaching staff is responding to your questions (which I guarantee is not happening), you are not going to get an accurate answer. Now be resourceful, find out the # for the track office, and move on. Very few coaches enjoy seeing potential athletes bring up their name on letsrun threads, especially threads where they are being slammed.
uga's coach is to coach at a&m now, coach waters (sp?). so i cant imagine the other staying
Hey, TAMU, you are a joke, I hope that I someday go down to that shit hole College station and pound your ass into the ground. All you aggies are the same rich cowboy sons of bitches who suck at running and will suck even more now
HA HA HA
Good Luck on the season though..........pussys!!
wow, ur an idiot, i bet gulli could run 1620 on a xc course at high altitude when she's barely a sub 16 runner on the track at low altitude at best. and there's tons of girls running 430 for the mile huh? get over the fact you weren't successful running collegiately, and face it that others have hope
