Ill give them 6months tops until they announce that they miss their families and Terrence will now coach them remotely. Or they might just be honest and say that UK is not a conducive place to train for endurance running in winter time!

I suppose that you have not looked very closely has his contract have you? If you are surprised then you really may not have considered the entire picture. The UK will not get as much as they want if they try to dictate everything else.

They will be training in the Canary's.

I don't know what the Caribic is, but the MTC trained in San Diego when there was too much snow in Mammoth.

However, it's obvious that Twell, England, and the other British mid-D runners have some suitable place to train in winter, so I'm sure they will figure it out. Anyway, Pierce is from Maine, and Ucency from Indiana where they have real winters so I don't think it's anything new to them.

As far as conflict, I suppose it's not much different than Salazar coaching Rupp and Farah, OTC Eugene including Brits, etc.

Salazar, Rowland, etc are employed by a private compant i.e. Nike to run elite training training groups; not by USATF. To me, that is a big difference.

UKA bringing in outside talent suggests they want to improve British distance running. The purpose of a national distance coach is to make these improvements and provide assistance and support to British distance athletes during training camps and especially major championships.

Coaching non-British athletes while his wages are being paid by UKA to focus on their athletes, to me, is a conflict of interests.

That's a point. The question is whether coaching individuals on the side will prevent him from doing his job. Lots of NCAA coaches in the US coach individual pros on the side and it's not viewed as a conflict or inconsistent with doing their jobs as college coaches. I assume it all comes down to what Mahon's contract with UKA says. I assume they agreed to let him continue coaching his current athletes and took into account how much time they expect him to devote to UKA vs. individual coaching.

What I meant above is that in track coaches frequently coach individuals who are competing against each other, and even competing for different "teams" like Rupp and Farah at the Olympics and it's not usually seen as a conflict of interest, because track is such an individual sport.

It would obviously be a conflict to coach opposing football teams at the same time, but running strategy doesn't usually work the same way.
