I struggle with starting too slow in races and then can't work my way up in the latter half of a race to make it close even though I am running stronger than mostly everyone else. If I try and start even a little faster, I run out of steam at the end of a race. How can improve in this area? Someone suggested 4x200 with 30 seconds rest, then do 3x1 mile with 3 min rest. Finish with 4x200 so I start off fatigued and have to adapt in my workout. Ideas other than the usual "BUMP!" someone will post (I do 40-50 miles a week and am more an endurance based runner).
