I understand there's going to be billions worth of damage along the coast, but that was the biggest fizzle out of a hurricane I've ever seen. As soon as the eye came ashore, it was like the entire system lost half its strength. I'm inland about 70 miles or so and expected to have to weather out another 3-4 hours of driving rain, high winds and strong gusts, but it just died. It just came ashore and died everywhere all at once. At most there are 30-40 mph gusts out there now, and I'm betting it'll die down to practically nothing in another six hours.
Offices, schools and even the New York Stock Exchange are closed tomorrow, which will probably turn out to be a decent day in the end.
Well, at least I know I'll get my run in tomorrow.
