You obviously don't coach D1. A kid running 9:10 as a senior probably ran 9:20 or slower as a junior. If so, he's probably not getting a scholarship offer from a top-30 team (unless he's done something else much better).
I was curious, so I looked up prep times for the top 6 teams. I'll put the number of sub-9:10 or equivalent high-school guys in parentheses.
