All the kids in that race were juniors, except the boy who finished ninth and the girl who finished sixth (he was a sophomore and she was a freshman).
I'm betting it'll be a 25 year old Kenyan.
I'm interested to hear how Burke trains. My son ran against him in NB. He didn't outclass the field, but did win nicely. He is a tough runner! Here in Michigan we had 4:20, 4:22.8, and 4:23.5 1600M freshman. That blew my mind. Can't speak for all three but my son and the 4:20 runner were 14 until the end of freshman year. There seem to many top runners who are 12-18 months older than others in their class. So, should it really count if you are the age of a college freshman as a senior in high school and run sub-4? I think not. To run that fast you have to train like a college/pro athlete. Should have age group records rather than school class.
