Alan Webb's high school coach made a goof when he stated
David Kummenaker didn't have enough speed to be world class! In middle distance and distance pure speed plays
a less significant role as developed stamina! Pure speeds
is a nice plus; however, someone with a 200m PR of 22.5-
but GREAT stamina would be more successful in middle & long
distance than someone with 20.9 200m speed and little
stamina or endurance! In middle and long distance running
speed is only deadly when you have the stamina to stay
close enough to use it! Also middle distance athletes have
a much better chance of drastically increasing their endurance/stamina than they have of greatly increasing their naturally speed! SPEED THRU STRENGTH should be the
main goal of all U.S. Coaches in the future!!!
