Bob Braman use to be the coach.
What really hurts the men's distance squad right now is that they are roster restricted to 9 guys total and have 1 scholarship to spread out for the whole team.
It's not just the number on the roster. They do get decent guys out of high school. What really hurts is having a coach who doesn't know anything about running or coaching and apparently could care less. I think she came from coaching high school that had let go of her for this reason. They were national caliber under Braman and his immediate successors.

well one guy does not make the team. what about dror vaknin, chris paine (?), geralt owens and john bowden? it takes more than 1 guy to make a relay team run 15:10 for 4X1500

I'd say that's pretty darn good and worthy of what I said to open the thread. By the way, other programs on par with South Florida would be Louisville, Oklahoma, Va. Tech, Cornell, West Virginia (deceased), and Penn all with four appearances in their school history as well.
I rest my case "Mr. Busted on LR" and happy my memory serves me well.
Coach Braman deserves the credit for all those good years. He's a real good recruiter, can put together guy's who don't want to lose, and training philosophy is always based around strength-endurance. All good for XC.
