In high school, it was rare for us to have a cross country meet on a weekday. We didn't do dual meets - I think all our meets were on Saturdays. Seemed to work pretty well - didn't miss class, parents and families could attend, etc.
But I was noticing that at least several big college meets are held on weekdays. The upcoming Wisconsin meet is on a Friday. Paul Short was on a Friday.
I guess I don't understand the rationale for this. For something like Wisconsin, where most flights will require at least one connection, some teams will have to leave on Wednesday and 3 days of class will be missed.
Can someone explain why this is done like this? And yea, I know that some people probably like missing that much class, but for others, it could be a real problem. Thanks.
