Best Racing flat for 10K+

Best shoe...Nike Streak XC. Just like any other good shoe they've accidentally made, Nike decided to replace the Streak XC with the inferior Streak LT.

Streak XC is the same as the new LT. Just updated colors. The XC is also less of a shoe than the A5.

NB has some decent flats. 1400 and 1600 i think are the names. I really like the A5. I use it for 5k-marathon.

I love the pair of 1400's I have, but they are my track work shoe. For races I've used Brook's T's (3,4,6x2) for years.

If youve got the cash, the flyknit racer is something you could try.

Like you I use the NB 890 for day-to-day running and most long runs.

NB 1400 for tempos, track workouts and fast-finish or race simulation long runs.

I've raced 5/10/HM in the Adidas Adios a lot, and liked that, although I find them a bit on the narrow side. Previously raced marathons in the old NB 833 (then 825) series, so I think the 890 is the logical extension of that, although I think the 1400 would be fine for the distance.

Might try the NB 1600 for shorter races - interested to hear people's experience with that shoe.

what kind of mileage do you typically get out of a pair? do they have decent longevity?

If you can wear the 1400 w/o problems then you will like the 1600. Much lighter and feels even better for shorter races. (Example; I've worn it for a XC 5k(on all grass) for the first time and they felt awesome and I plan to run in them for an upcoming 5k road race).

the 1600's are pitched as a marathon flat, the difference between them and the flyknit racer being mostly $$$$. The 1600's also a smidge lighter.

I'd reccomend you try the Saucony Fastwich - 4mm drop and a bit firmer than the Kinvara.
