If say one was able to run 10km in around 30.00 mins in early 20s off 60 miles a week (typical one long run, 2 interval or tempo type sessions and rest steady runs) but then stopped racing and just ran to keep general fitness / for enjoyment for 10 years but at similar effort level to steady runs when had been racing and also doing closer to 100 miles (ie running twice on most days) how much fitness do you think you'd lose? How easy would it be to return to racing / proper training and approaching 30.00 again? Anyone got any direct experience of something similar? Thanks.
