New news that hasn't been released to the web...University of Richmond will be cutting both of their men's indoor and outdoor teams. Another loss because what I assume is Title IX's fault. Its funny how an Education Amendment that started for equal rights for women and men in education has become an amendment pretty much strictly athletic based. Do you think its truly fair to cut men's programs to "benefit" women's sport when clearly for the most part women don't care about sports on the college level hence why schools some time find it hard to fill an entire female roster. I say "benefit" because they schools and athletic departments are using these extra male roster spots and funding not to benefit money but to benefit other men's programs like football or basketball.
These schools and their athletic departments are claiming that these men's teams, like cross country and track, are not "money makers". But these programs are also teams that probably spend the least. Who often buy their own shoes and running gear. A lot of the teams raise enough money each year for a season or two by hosting cross country or track meets. So why continue to cut these teams?
Down with Title IX! Its out dated and ruining male student-athletes dreams and ambitions.
