I'm not talking about dropping your pace from 7:00 to 6:40, I'm talking about running a 1500M at a near sprint (3:30's) or a 5000 at 4:10 pace. When you get this fast, how does your perception differ from a mediocre runner?
Does it "feel" like a sprint but you can just sustain it? Do you feel the incredible stride length and cadence? Does your perception of the scene around you fly by noticeably quicker? I find the idea of running 14.5 100's 15 times in a row just mind-boggling. So much so that I can't even comprehend it.
