I know the wave # indicates your start time, but what does the corral color mean, and how does the corral # relate to it? Which color is best? Does a lower or higher number mean that your closer to the actual start?
Thanks!

Blue and Orange start on the top of the Verrazano Bridge. Green starts on the lower level of the bridge (and is less scenic as a result). A lower corral number is closer to the start within the same color, but it's possible for a higher corral number in one color (e.g. orange) to be closer than a smaller number in another color (e.g. blue). This is the corral chart from last year, which is being modified for this year since there are four waves, but you get the idea.. http://www.ingnycmarathon.org/entrantinfo/Corral_Chart_2011.htm
How do they decide Green versus Blue and Orange? I know several sub-3:00 marathoners. One's in green, one's in blue, one's in orange.
