I have had on and off PF for the last year. It hasn't stopped me from training, but I would like to start upping my mileage. I have pretty high arches. I normally wear a cushiony shoe (kayano). I've noticed that I pronate a bit on take-off. Any shoe recommendations? I like the kayano but I don't know if this is the best type of shoe for me. I have custom orthotics.

Try wearing a firmer shoe. This helped me out a lot when I had some PF. Most of Mizunos shoes tend to be pretty firm.
No, Mr. Lahey, he should go with an Asics Nimbus with that high arch of his.
You need to strengthen your feet to work through PF, so I'll recommend bare foot strides several times a week with whatever shoe you choose.

Mizunos recent training shoes have gotten way to cushy (precision and rider in particular) I do a lot of training in the Ronin. Same type of foot and have dealt with PF in the past..
I would for for a neutral shoe. Your orthotics should be making the corrections
Don't go online try with your orthotics on in the shop
Try heel drops on stairs
plus stretch your foot before getting up in the morning and put on slippers with your orthotics in when you get up
Randy man, I take it you have never worn a Mizuno shoe? Quite the arch on most of their shoes there bud.
Superfeet green. I have high arches and had PF for 14 months. When I put these insoles in all of my shoes, it got better in a few weeks. They are inexpensive and worth a try.
