Holy sh*t, masterful running
Holy sh*t, masterful running
I could tell from about the 4th hurdle that the WR had no chance of surviving. Crazy
Drugs. No question about it. His improvement this year was unbelievable (in the literal sense).
Most of his opponents are doping too, so I suppose that evens it out a bit.
Liu = clean and legit WR holder.
Definitely not surprised to see him break it, but I didn't think it would be 12.80, pretty unreal

Im certainly no expert in the hurdle events, but a lot has been made about Merritt switching from 8 steps to the first hurdle to 7 steps. Realistically, how much could that improve his times?
Merritt's progression:
2012 12.80
2011 13.12
2010 13.61
2009 13.15
2008 13.24
2007 13.09
2006 13.12
2005 13.38
2004 13.47
2003 13.85

Who would be giving him drugs? The Texas A&M staff?
You can't discount what the 7 step approach has done dor hi hurdling. To do so would be like accusing a high jumper of drugs because he improved his beat by 30cm after switching from the Western Roll to the Fosbury Flop and not taking the significance of that change in technique into account.

LEtsRunnne - the hipster of track and field!
Well, it's all downhill from here for Merritt. Best season of 110m hurdling ever. Incredible.
USA got it's record back!

Thought the same and I don't know sh!t about hurdling. Man vs boys in that one.

And he runs now under Anderson and Behm
http://www.aggieathletics.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=27300&ATCLID=205573025I had assumed the poster's point was "Merritt has been running extremely well since college where he ran the second fastest collegiate time ever in the 110h." That would have been a more powerful statement than decrying the A&M staff specifically.
The point here is that Merritt has been a stud for a long long time.

See my previous post for an explanation.

I know right! Everything about that run was perfect. Everything came together: the reaction time, the acceleration, the technique over the hurdles, the lean at the end, the tailwind, the conditions, his peak form. Everything.
This record will stand for a very, very, long time.

USA got it is record back? This makes no sense.

Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
