What, you mean with all the hair slowing him down?
That pic of Gavin makes his legs look big. In real life he's a really little guy, maybe about 5'6 tall. I can't wait to see what he does in track this year. He can run anything from 800 to 10k if he wants, 5k/mile is what I'd like to see him run.
His calves just look.. Not like you'd expect from a runner of his ability. Look at guys like Torres and Boaz and they got nice calves. Gavins are just kind've a blob. Or so it looks like in the pic. It looks like he has really short legs in comparison with the rest of his body which is sorta odd for a runner too.
I'm not completely up on all the main attributes to running talent but number one would be MENTAL TOUGHNESS.
Body type would be next and that generally seems to favor longer, narrower legs. But a gifted, strong, and adaptable cardio-pulmonary sytem would be very important as well. Very few have all three but if you have any one of these you can go far and the mental talent would be the most important.
There have been great runners with the same body-type. Seko and Domigos Castro come to mind. And Prefontaine looked a little bit out of place in a field of world class runners.
I've seen scores of guys who "looked" like they had talent that never did shit also.
Former WR holder Deek Clayton's legs always looked like a
oaks compared to the willowy Kenyans that he ran against.
He still managed to beat them on a regular basis.
It's just the angle of the picture.
That picture realy does make his legs look big and weird. I run with him and I can tell you his legs are nothing like that they are skinny. must be the camera or angle.
That should be "them thar" legs.
who cares about the legs, that dude gets all the ladies with his accent, got some GV ladies lined up for ya man!!!
How in the hell does he run with those eye brows? Got to add 10 pounds to his weight!
