There isn't a big reason not to buy either of these makes.
However, more importantly, I think it's important to note that there is also no reason to only consider these makes.
Mazda, Suzuki, Nissan, Hyundai, Ford and others all have competitive vehicles on the market. Cars have improved significantly, to the extent that it no longer makes sense to only look at a brand like Toyota for a reliable car.
They don't have interesting cars.
That's one good reason.
Is there any good reason to NOT buy all your clothes from GAP?
Some people want something that looks better or has a bit more exclusivity to it. This is not necessarily about quality.
Your Hugo Boss shirt is probably not going to last you much longer than your GAP shirt.
That said, the Hugo Boss shirt looks a lot better.
Reliability >>> fashion. Always.
They are not American brands.
They do not have as good as financing as American brands.
They are not as far ahead of the American brands as people think they are.

Toyata Corrolla has the worse breaking system.
The idea that Japanese brands are superior is so 10 years ago.
1. In terms of pure dollars and cents you can get better value out of a Ford or Chevy with an extended warranty. They are a few grand cheaper up front and the extended warranty is not that expensive.
2. Kia and Hyundai are coming up in quality and reliability as Honda and Toyota have slid significantly.
3. Toyota and Honda dealers are notorious for price discipline. You will not get much off the sticker for a Civic or Corrolla, especially with gas prices starting to spike.
4. The latest civic is all full of plastic in the interior
5. You can afford a Volvo
