28 year old post-collegiate running a 10000m race on Saturday evening. Ran 32 flat pb last June in my most recent one. 5k sb of 15'10 run a couple months ago, but since then I've only been running mileage (100-120mpw) and 2 weekly tempos. One has been a session of tempo intervals 10k/5k/3k/2k and the other has been a 10800m track tempo with 10k splits the last five weeks of 33'50, 34'00, 33'28, 32'40 (with every ninth lap in 84), 32'52 (with middle 11 laps alternating 74/75 and 80/81).
Tempos have been by feel (haven't looked at watch until after the session), challenging, but relaxed and evenly run (except when specifically meant not to be). I have not much tempo training since my last marathon five years ago (2:40). The last three have felt much easier to complete, whereas the first two felt like a really long time on the track.
Race isn't a major goal, just a transition into the cross season, but I'm running it hard and taking three easy days going in.
