Tragic..he has a long recovery since he has nerve damage to right leg. He is looking at ~ 2 yr for the damaged nerve to regrow (depending on high up his nerve was damaged V7?) and another year after that for muscle function to return close to normal. Also metal rods in his back that might be permanent. He is lucky that he wasn't paralyzed after that crash. Wish him a speedy recovery and is able to resume a normal active life. Not too sure if he will be able return to triathlon competitive ranks but again that is minor in the overall scope of his injuries.
Cycling is surprisingly dangerous but it is crazy that a simple training accident could ruin LV's chances of ever running or riding again.
I hope all you younger dudes who think you are immortal enjoy the gift you have to train hard and run fast, it doesn't last forever and can be taken away from you in the blink of an eye.

My heart goes out to this kid; to have his dreams and career ruined by something so stupid. He's gonna need a lot of support to deal with the depressing consequences of his injuries and the changes to his life. If he's not able to recover 100% hopefully he can have a successful career in triathlon in some capacity.

Does anybody know the details of his endorsement deals? Does he at least have money that is guaranteed to him over the next few years? It would be a real shame if he has nothing to fall back on. Whether it be money saved up or a college degree.
