Nobody in the world could have won in Ryan's position. Neck and neck with Usain Bolt with a 100 metres to go.......no chance.
He did not ruin it. If anything i see him becoming alot faster and improving from this. Also Tyson Gay was not at his best especially when he was running the corner (3rd leg) on his not 100% healed hip.
If it were a 2009 healthy formed Tyson Gay on the 3rd leg or as anchor himself, Bolt would have been way behind by time he got the baton.

em what do we have to do sir?
Give Bolt a US citizenship?
Bolt and Bailey were neck and neck and Bolt beat Bailey by .20.
Bailey PR= 9.88
Bolt PR= 9.58
Difference =.30
Bailey actually made up .1 seconds on bolt! I say he did pretty damn good.
What a dumb post, do you know anything about track? Bailey was right there and lost to a guy who has run nearly a half-second faster than the next fastest guy ever. Do you follow the sport? So the USATF in a year has to find a guy as good as Bolt ... yeah, right. Quit posting, you're embarassing yourself.
RB sucks and USATF sucks. Jamaica makes us look like children. USATF better get some coaches that can catch Bolt and Blake or the USA will be made into fools again at Moscow.
Bolts on drugs. Bailey isn't.
I can't blame Bailey for not trying, he did his best against the most doped athlete in the sport.
whaddabout gatlin eh?
Ryan Bailey has the potential to beat Bolt but he choked and crapped in his pants on Saturday making the United States look like losers.
I really thought it was Gay who gave up to much ground on Blake third leg. US expected a lead going into third leg and they had that lead. Probably expected Gay to maintain that lead and give Bailey a shot. Blake sucked up Gay and cost us any chance.

You are a child.
If the US could get some coaches that could catch Bolt, they wouldn't need athletes.
Its Jamaica's time.
It's "time" Jamaica got an independent drug-testing body with authority to do out-of-season drug testing. If they can't afford it or don't have the political will or they're just too venal, then the IAAF should contract with WADA to conduct the testing.
WADA and USADA are the furthest from independent. We need the DEA, FBI Labs, NIH, UCSF, and UCLA in charge of dope testing.
4/10
Credit where's it due--I was gonna go with a "0," but I see that you trolled some (apparently) serious responses.
I guess Poe's Law maybe applies to this subject too, huh? I guess "obvious troll is obvious" is not so obvious...
I give it a 0/10
And as for anybody suggesting that the USA was embarrassed or made to look like crap, you are either trolling, or retarded.
They ran 37.04 to equal the huge previous WR, absolutely crushing the previous, high-quality AR. Nobody else in history has ever been even close to this Jam and this USA team.
And, they did this with an inferior 2nd exchange, and a sub-par Gay. Actually, that is unbelievable to me (funky track and/or timing). If the timing was accurate, however, they can go sub-37 based on just running a healthy Gay! Take off another .05 for a better 2nd exchange, and holy crap.
Bailey blew nothing. All that can be asked from anybody is to perform to their potential, which he absolutely did. Running the second-fastest 4x100m relay in recorded history is no reason for apology, it is huge!
Look for Bailey to be the NEXT serious USA anchor. I think that Drummond was RIGHT ON, putting Bailey on anchor this time around, to introduce him to his future role as leader of the USA 4x100m.
Who will be the team of the future for the USA? Right now, I can only think of 2 guys who I would consider locks--Demps, and Bailey.
This was a HUGE year for Bailey. Does the guy run a decent 200? He seems a bit thick, a bit lumbering to me. Maybe if he thinned down a bit, and became more wiry like Bolt, he would have better turnover and better drive phase. He's still maturing, it will be interesting to see in what direction he progresses.
Send Ryan Bailey back to Oregon where he came from. He doesn't belong in L.A.
Yes, and I said as much last PM to a friend of mine.
Gay diplayed some real guts, but had his lunch eaten on that 3rd leg, alas.
Anyone have any splits from this race?

The 200m was his better event in high school, with much the same build as today, but he hasn't given it the same attention since then. Ryan has never been a good starter, although he's gotten much better, so the longer sprint gives him more time to overcome that.

100m isnt all its doped up to be... Carl Lewis 100% right how Blake the Beast of Doper isnt banned i dont know how. All it proves is that the whole Jamacian team is doping.
In the words of Ben the original Jamacia Beast, Bolt took dem Stereos.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
