Not sure what we can learn from this, but it is surprising how many runners have been caught with EPO recently. Has the testing improved, so that micro-dosing is no longer safe?

Unfortunately, I guess the top athletes have already "moved on", so it's just the second-tier that get caught.

Well the thing is you have to be a little dumb to get caught for EPO one week before the games...

The big guys are well advised and mostly on untraceable new designer stuff for now on.

Also note that this guy like the steeplechaser who got busted a few weeks ago are poor guys same as Aarass, Zoubaa etc... and do not win anything for france as Mekhissi is...

I also wonder about one of his teammate in the army that ran a big 13'16 PR this year... but also all the Paris field as well as the german that used to be trained by Baumann...

This guy is 32 years old and looking at his race history it seems like he was pretty good but never the quality of runner he is now to make it to the Olympics. Also an interview I read said that he'd had some financial problems. He probably figured he's got one shot to make the Olympics and didn't particularly care about getting caught because he was so desperate.

He was a 13-2X runner before his breakthrough run in Paris this year so he was not that far off from the making it to the Olympics. Of course, he could have been doping before then.

There does not seem to be any sort of general performance profile when it comes to dopers. Athletes such as Lombard had sudden breakthroughs whereas athletes such as Jones, Fagan, or Hellybuck had many years of performances at a high level before it was revealed that they were doping.

No such thing as untraceable, especially since these guys aren't inventing their own drugs. Ask Ramzi how that untraceable EPO is working out for him.

Sorry but as living in france part of the year i focus a little on their athletics. This guy popped a 13'25 last summer after struggling for about 6 years barely under 13'50. He did that at the world military games after a comeback from an "injury" as a 31 years old. This year same as he was "injured" most of the year, and was training in the morocan desert (also note that the antidumping had hard time to localize him)... was only third at national champ and then goes 13'11... He is in the same team as Zoubaa who got caught in the past and many suspicious athletes whom he trains with and that are based in Morocco...

Ramzi is an idiot as CERA test was availabe... + dopping at the olympics... + politics...

You would be surprised to see the list of new design drugs that are currently on the market and yet... untraceable... but if you want to believe that does stuff does not exist no problem. I just wanted to give you my opinion and some inside knowledge.

Yeah, some stuff is undetectable now, but there's no reason to think it'll be undetectable in 8 years. If you've got the metabolites in your urine, you're taking a real risk that your urine will be retested when a new test comes out.

Why is it that only second tier athletes are being caught? Racewalker, "slowish" 5000m runner...

Isn't here any good athletes taking anything?

2nd tier athletes don't have the resources to make sure they'll test clean and/or they're stuck with cheaper drugs.

Same is true of 3rd world countries with doping programs.
