Can someone post the friggin results for the rest?? Where were the Kenyans??
PS. Leo I want to apologize for giving you a 2% chance of a medal.
I remember talking to Vig a few years ago and he was talking about a gold medal as a possibility with Leo. I was like "What are you talking about? A gold medal?"
And he just was saying he thought it was possible - he' got a great kick, etc.

what is the letsrun phone #? promise i won't prank call
The race was over for less than five minutes. The phone rings and I pick up and he says, "Gold & Bronze To US in Men's 1500 - Unbelievable!!!"
I was like, "What? No Centro just missed the second medal" And then I realized he said gold and it hit me and I started laughing.
607-330-4786It's not like they hide it. They say call anytime you like.

So an Algerian runs a surprise race to win gold, closing in 52-point, and he's on drugs. An American runs a surprise race to win silver, closing in 52-point, and he's a hero.
I agree the Algerian is a surprise, but he ran 3:34 in 2009.
Rojo:
How long are you going to keep this up? It really takes away from the sport, as I have pointed out a few times before. I am not advocating drug use, but be as it may, the testing is what it is. If someone from another country can beat the test, don't you think someone from this country can beat the test?
And what is to be gained from all this drug talk? I just think it makes our sport look like crap.
I bring up comparisons to other sports. How about after St Louis wins the World Championships all the talk is about how their guys took drugs to make their final run to the championship. Or how about the Giants, who struggled in the middle of the season and then went on to beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl. Drugs?
At this point, everyone has an equal share of either taking the drugs or getting caught, so picking on guys who are black or from other countries is just down right unprofessional.
We get your stand on drugs and it is admirable, but how about letting it rest and lets enjoy the events.
Just a bit of advice from an old guy who loves this sport.

My gut tells me you are right but I wish you are wrong. To deny Manzano and Centro their victory lap and the medal ceremony is bullshit. He made it look too easy.

Here we have rojo - xenophobic as always.
I mean, how COULD anyone beat an American in a distance race? It's never happened before!
Puljos is definite doper. He got off the roids this year after his fat contract and look at him. The NFL is joke these days - it makes the WWE look clean.
This algerian is dirty.
He should have be dq for not finishing the 800m
i agree its such sour grapes from a site that is supposed to be promoting the sport its almost like what Salazar said about the defeatist attitude of American distance coupled with the racist allegations of drug use by the Africans just went in one ear and out the other of the admins of this site. Bit of a shame really, not to mention indicative of a pretty short attention span.
Remember the thread where people predicting 80% chance for at least 1 us distance medal? We're now on 2 or 3 with a great chance in the 5.
I don't understand, Emil, how you could read anything about this outrage as a pro-American thing? If you have any grounding in the 1500m's recent championship history this has everything to do with what Ramzi, and now Mahkloufi, have taken away from other runners (some of whom, now, but not before, happen to be American).
What's troubling about Makhloufi is the manner in which he demolished the field, both in the semis and the final. The times will show he won by .7, however, from 150 out to 50 out, in comparison to him it looked like everyone else was walking. I've been following the Olympics since 1964. I've never been more certain as to who would win . . . after the semis, that is. Anyone found doping at the Olympics, because that person would deny someone a certain podium experience, the experience of the lifetime, should be banned from the sport for life.

Wait until after the drug tests are in. It could be Gold and Silver for USA and Bronze for Norway -- now or in 6 months.
What in the world makes you think that they will catch him? Does he even have a "biological passport" yet? What he did to the field out of the blue is mind boggling and invites the kind of questioning that was heaped on Rashid Ramzi. He and Jeter are getting pounded by the LRC crew, but the dopers are out in front of WADA and now how to beat them. Unless there are tremendous advances in detection which are discovered, catching the guilty is only a 10% game at best even in 2012.
How did Ramzi get caught anyway?

Yeah, forget about it brojos! Let the filthy cheaters have their glory. That makes the sport look wonderful and is much more enjoyable for everyone.
BTW, Lance was clean.
3rd place was Moroccan. Does this mean Gold/silver for USA?
