It emerges Kim Collins DNS because he spend a night with his wife in a hotel instead of being at the Olympic village.
OK, Kim Collins new the rules of his federation, but, I think at 36 years and the fact that soon he will be a grandfather, allows him to spend his night wherever he so chooses.
Plus wife might have insisted he stays at the hotel knowing of the party that goes on at the village. The few of you LRers that have known women (both literally and bibilically)understand Kim's dilemma

Rules are rules, regardless of "party" situation in the Village.
However I don't like the fact that the Olympic village exists in the first place, it should be a lot harder to intermingle athletes of different countries, this is a competition not a friendly gathering. -
Ridiculous. A grown man isn't allowed to decide where to sleep? Making the Olympic team is pretty good evidence that you're able to make the right decisions with regard to preparing for competition. As long as you show up at the proper venue at the right times and you're ready to compete when necessary, why is it anyone's business what you do the rest of the time. This isn't some high school track team. These are professional athletes.

I understand that he broke the rule so he has to pay the consequences, but why is a rule like that even in place?
-
These games are ridiculous with all the rules!! Sponsorship, some ridiculous qualifying rules by certain nations... Has it always been this way or are we just more aware cuz of twitter an such?

You are a f*cking idiot. The point of the Olympics is to bring all sorts of people from all over the world together. -

It's nice to have that option available to athletes, but let's not turn it into some kind of halfway house where you get thrown out of the Olympics if you don't check in. -

Except Mr. and Mrs. Collins. -
Really difficult for me to make a call. Rules are rules but there is something called a warning and stuff like that... But he knew the rules
I think they make Olympic villages for cost reasons, it is cheaper than having many separate accommodation for different countries -
this is a way out for a doper, clowns!

Maybe more to it...
From USAToday story:
"Mr. Collins departure is down to his repeated absences from training sessions and also for refusing to respond to repeated phone calls and emails by team manager and coaches," the St. Kitts and Nevis Olympic Committee said in the statement. "Furthermore, Mr. Collins did not make an appearance for registration for his events at the Olympic Village (on Friday) as requested." -
Thanks, this explains otherwise a night with the wife should not cause a dude to be kicked out of the games

Rubbish. Bad rules should be broken. Look up Gandhi, MLK and civil disobedience.
The Olympics Games has $6 billion exchanging hands with sports governing bodies and officials receiving a cash windfall. The athletes, meanwhile, perform for free and are forced to follow childish rules. What's wrong with this picture? -
I'd like to know how he is about to become a grandfather.

I agree. Don't think the decision was right but the Olympic Village is fantastic for the athletes. I was just disagreeing with the guy who thought it was a bad idea. -
