Just sign up for a YouTube account and make a comment on their video. Very simple process. No, cannot get their email unless they elected to make publice.

You can also send them a message directly on youtube to ask your questions, when you have an account. No guarantee they will read it, but they will get it and be notified.
Yes you can do it. YouTube hasn't remove the option to send private messages. Go to the channel of the person you want to contact and click the “About” tab. Click “Send Messages” button, enter your private message and click “Send” button.
