Cabral controlled the race, just like at Penn but on a much bigger scale, and coasted home to the auto qualifier. This is what happens when a smart runner with a smart coach step on the line. They don't watch the board to see if they lucked out on time.

True, he was out front, but running 9:00 pace isn't really trying to win the race...
But if course, leading had to feel crazy in an Olympic final.
Keep in mind Cabral has a history of kicking from the front off of a slow pace. He never had a chance to win, but if he did, it was probably going to be doing just that.
