i noticed that... wtf? in a nation that athletically prides themselves on kicking the worlds asses in one sport, how does a whitey hold the flag?
now that i wrote that, its quite a bit like lopez lomong carrying our flag in 08. not the stereotypical american, plays a fringe sport.

No theirs is more realistic. Their 'whitey' was born in Kenya. Lopez was not born in the United States.
More weird is that it was a swimmer who is no good, rather than some of the greatest runners in the world.
As stated in another thread.
He finished 4th in World Championships last year and made finals at last Olympics. So 'no good' is kinda harsh.
Compared to their runners. The guy probably lives in Florida or something.
It it not about medals, it is about participation and representation
Everyone in Kenya knows about their running dominance. Another win in long distance running isn't going to cause a running boom. They have that already.
But maybe more people will think about taking up swimming. Even though I doubt there are many pools that are suitable for training. Most of them are probably hotel pools...

Gawd, the stupidity of you guys. There's always been a a white, Indian (East Indian) and Arab minority in Kenya. Jason Dunford is not a recent immigrant like Lopez, he's third or fourth generation Kenyan meaning his family has been in Kenya longer than some white American's families have been in the US.
