While reviewing my status of registration for the upcoming NYC Marathon this fall, I was came across the following quote on the website:

I would just like to get everyone else's opinion on this. Is this really what marathon running has become? I enter marathons just so that I can "survive" them? I would like to expect more from a marathon which claims to be world class.
I'm just disappointed with the lack of respect people have for the distance. It is apparent that marathon running has become overpopulated in the last several years with fewer and fewer people doing the proper training to properly race the distance. What's your opinion on this?
