I agree and it says a lot for US mid distance if we leave runners like Vessey and Moore off of our Olympic Team- we have depth.
Does Vessey really have an issue with performance anxiety? She did well in 2011. Vessey is a basically a 1:58 800m runner. But on the international scene filled with 1:55-1:56 runners Vessey just can't hang with those ladies. At Daegu last year Vessey opened up in with a 57.x 400m (probably the fastest she's ever opened up) but was already back in the pack.
I don't get how Price has not taken off yet. If you actually watch her run, in a race where she is the clear favorite. She will go run a 2:02 and look like she does not try once in the entire race. There is no anguish, no break of stride, no struggle. She does not even look like she breaks a sweat.
You watch a race like that and are like, well if she had someone to push her and she sprinted the last 200 she would have ran a 1:58.
Then she gets to a big meet and runs the same 2:02 (except for this race where she went 2:00.15)
