Do you know anyone that runs a lot of mileage and is extremely slow?

that would be crazy unless your like 5 and under or 60+
fat ultra runners who think they are real runners?
maybe i'm missing something, but I don't really know anyone that runs 100 mpw and is overweight. I mean i'm sure there are some stockier build people but come on, I think it would be a bit hard to pound 100 mpw, week after week, and still be fat.

They are real runners - they just aren't fast.
Anyway, I think there are probably lots of the back of the pack ultra runners who run over 100 mpw and would run a 5k around 25 minutes because they run everything the same speed - slow.
I can't imagine taking the time to do 100 mpw at a 25/5k runner's training pace. I'm guessing they'd train at 9-10:00 per mile, so you're looking at over 2 hours per day of actual running.
If are running 100 mpw and only running a 25:00 5k then you are doing something wrong.
I run 35-50 miles per week and I'm not skinny. Could probably lose 20-30lbs. 25 minute 5k is a bit over 8 minute miles.
Yeah, I can see someone racing at that pace, for sure, especially if they're older.

You're
Im sure they're out there. Running attracts (or does it cause?)a lot of OCD types of personalities.
I don't think Dean Karnezes has ever broken 25 for the 5k. And he runs insane mileage.

I think either of these to categories capable of running 100 mph would then be capable of running under 25.
that ian edwards character run a shit ton, and has yet to run a race that proves that he is fast. basically he sucks, but he does run a lot.

Not sure if you are trolling, but if you are not, GO AWAY. This site is not for you.
I think he has ran 25 minutes for 8k
So true, or any distance they have the endurance for. Obviously my error meaning 100 mpw.

That is an average of more than 14 miles per day and if someone can only run 25 minutes for a 5k, you know that person probably isn't running any faster than 10 minute/mile pace on daily runs. Why spend 2.5 hours a day running if you are that slow?
