I used to wear the DS trainers back in 2003, but right now i am wearing an old rundown pair of 2080s since the new DS trainers suck. So,with that being said, does anyone know of a shoe that is comparable that works for them? (i have high arches, and am a toe runner)
If you only wear asics, things become a little more difficult. Try the Landreth by them. It doesn't have any support to it, but if you truly are a toe runner that shouldn't matter. You might always want to look into the Nike Zoom Elite, or the Saucony Swerve. They both fit the profile of a lighter weight stability shoe, and have filled the market nicely since the introduction of the crappy new DS Trainer.
I'm in the landreth now, about 120 on them so far, and they are doing okay. A bit too much cushion in the heel, but the toe is nice . Very lightweight for the amount of cushion they packed into it without all the damn annoying plastic support crap they slap on everything now. Minor complaint is that, for as meshy as the upper is, they have become the stinkiest pair of shoes over the shortest amount of time...

The Landreth, outside of your complaint about the meshy upper leading to 'shoe funk,' has got to be the neatest shoe I've run in by asics. I stuff newspapers inside mine after most long runs, especially now during the FL summer humidity. Helps the shoe live longer and makes them less funky. A dryer sheet along with the newspapers works pretty nicely, too.

yup...use to only wear asics...loved the ds trainers til they went to crap...tried the gel verdicts...those sucked...if you want light weight the mizuno wave precision 3 is a pretty nice shoe...its reminds me a lot of the old ds trainers, when i tried it on it seemed to almost instantly mold to my foot...you should check them out. Prob. a little over 10 oz.
