I'll be going to France in a month. Typically, when I visit a new place, I like to just take off and run and explore. This time, however, I want to make sure there aren't any great runs I miss out on. I also don't want to get lost in Paris, since I don't speak any French.
We'll be in Paris a couple days, then bounce around to other towns before arriving in Chamonix (home of Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc). I'm just wondering if there are any trails not to be missed, and if there are any good ones accessible from the town (without getting on a cable car).
Also, my girlfriend (who isn't an avid runner)will be travelling with me, so I want to make the most out of the little time I can get out. Basically, I'll have to run during early morning or down time throughout the day, so I'm looking for some relatively short stuff (<10 miles).
I know I probably can't go wrong there, but I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the place. This image partially inspired the trip:
