Congrats Angelo! Olympic athlete 2000-2012. Can't be a lot of guys out there with a better work ethic.

Apparently he needs to work a little harder.
nah he thanked god. that's weak.
He must have had the sin of pride coming of the curve cuz The Man nearly got all Biblical on hizazz
he might get DQed. he hit hurdle #9, but it wasn't hit hurdle, it was bershawn jackson's. the hurdle was still moving when jackson got to it; he's got a decent claim.

He was distracted ... there was a hot 14-year-old in the stands at that location.

that's not weak, that's humble
In what way is it humble to think that God actually cares about what you do in a track race?Humility is realizing, even if you do believe in God, that God has way, way bigger things to worry about than how one person does in a sporting event.
that's not weak, that's humble

Presuming that God chose you, over others, to do well in a meaningless athletic event isn't humble - it's disgracefully arrogant. What did he do? Pray a bit harder than the others?

God wants us to glorify Him in everything - even in the trivial things like eating, drinking and running.
Matthew 10:32 "Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven."
I Corinthians 10:31 "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."
God isn't too busy for the small things
Psalm 22:14-15 "from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth - he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do"
Nice try, but wrote:

It's not arrogant to think that God cares about us - whether we win or lose. Maybe He chose Angelo to place top 3 so that he would give Him credit in London like he did today.

Damn, He should have entered the LetsRun prediction contest to make mad $$$
I wish you would post more bible quotes they make me smile :)))
Anything that needs self glorification has a complex, and that makes me smile because I know god is like me then

you can find a lot more verses on biblegateway.com, enough to keep you smiling all night long ;)
We are created in God's image, so yes, we share some qualities with Him. Like love, for example.
Genesis 1:27 "So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them."
But I wouldn't say God has a complex - He deserves the glory - who are we to tell Him otherwise?
Jackson had every grounds to make an appeal. I wonder if he did. Watching the program I felt like those results couldn't be called conclusive and was annoyed that the announcers didn't call more attention to Taylor hitting Jackson's hurdle.
angelo taylor could be a strong 800 guy.

Um I'm not religious but I'm pretty sure OMNIPOTENT means you can pay attention to big and small things simultaneously.
However the christian athletic ideal is a tricky one. Thank God for your own personal glory? sure, but that's not really sacrificing for others. If JS were in Allyson Felix's shoes, he'd probably give up the 100 m. spot, counting himself fortunate to be in the 200, 4x1 and possibly the 4x4. Also, why would God want you to win more than any of your religious competitors?
These questions have answers, and a sophisticated, religious athlete could give them. But that's certainly not the tenor you usually here in the "God wanted me to win this race" comments." Then again, it's hard to fit in a digression about the nature of pursuing personal success from within a religious framework that idolizes the poor and the dispossessed in a 20 second response to an inane question.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
