Salazar said Rupp routinely breaks 11 seconds in 100 meters when he’s fresh.
“Repeatedly this spring, he’s run 11.1, 11.2 for 100 meters with a two-step start at the end of very hard workouts,” Salazar said. “He’s that fast. It’s just a matter of using his speed. In races, he’s had a tendency to get gapped – let people get five or 10 meters on him. Then he’s playing catch-up.”
